Announcement of cancellation of 2020 District 76 Annual Conference

Dear Toastmasters,
*Please transfer this message to all your club members.

This is Kyoko KITAMURA, Chair of 2020 District 76 Annual Conference.

Considering the expansion of Covid-19 and based on the online exception from WHQ, District Trio and Conference Committee have decided to cancel 2020 District 76 Annual Conference which was scheduled on April 24-26 at Kyoto Terrsa.

District Executive Committee (DEC) meeting, District Council Meeting (DCM), Japanese Speech Contest, International Speech Contest will be done online. Other workshops and party are cancelled.

After we got the approval to hold the conference in other area of metropolitan area at DCM on Sep., 2018, many of conference team members led by steering committee chair, TM Hideo Temma, have been prepared to hold the conference. When we opened “Special Early Bird” right after the last conference in Funabori, almost 100 members have registered, which was exceeded our expectation. And we prepared many workshops thanks for many facilitators’ kind acceptances. I deeply appreciated all who are contributed the preparations.

As announced by District Director, all tickets are fully refund through Peatix system. Please wait for a committee member to contact you separately. And those who applied for Hotel through the committee will be also contacted by a committee member later. In addition, if you applied for accommodations yourself, please cancel them yourself.

The conference theme was “Tradition Meets Innovation”. Owing to the innovation, we can hold DEC, DCM and speech contest through online. Although currently it is very difficult to estimate near future, we, Toastmasters, will proceed to forwards and reach our goals.

See you somewhere in the world.

Kind Regards,

Kyoko KITAMURA
2020 District 76 Conference Chair
